Hi! I'm Amanda Leaman, Boston-based balayage expert.
Amanda has been in the industry for 15 years, longer if you want to count all of those sleepover haircuts & colors she gave friends as a kid. Very early on, Amanda knew that the hair industry was her passion and that she had to pursue it. Amanda started off while she was still in high school as an assistant at a salon just north of Boston. From there, she spent several years working in Harvard Square in Cambridge before ending up in Boston’s North End Waterfront.
Not only is Amanda grateful to have such a dedicated client following, she’s also had many amazing opportunities within the industry that have not only taken her all over the U.S. but also internationally. She’s also been published in many publications such as Allure, Glamour, Beauty Launchpad Magazine, Elite Daily, and Yahoo.
Amanda has a very open and honest approach when it comes to the looks she creates for her clients. She believes that it is important that your look compliments YOU and your lifestyle, and will curate a custom look for each guest. Hair health is also one of her main priorities and believes that educating clients on proper hair care is the key to gorgeous hair.
When Amanda isn’t working behind the chair you can find her doing various projects around her house (feel free to ask for design advice), spending time with family and friends, hosting get togethers or playing publicist for her up and coming Instafamous furbaby Frankie (yes you can follow him, he’s cute!)

The Commonwealth of MA no longer has a mask requirement for indoor establishments.
In accordance with this guidance, guests will no longer be required to wear a face covering entering the salon. Please feel free to continue wearing a face covering if that makes you feel more comfortable.
Amanda will continue to maintain a stringent level of sanitization and cleaning. Hand sanitizer will continue to be available throughout the salon. As always, I ask that if you or a member of your household are sick or experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, you please reschedule your appointment for the safety of our team and other guests in the salon.
We will continue to monitor the state guidance as we have throughout the pandemic and will make any necessary adjustments should changes arise in the future.
The large majority of my services are time-intensive and I am booked out months in advance. When booking your appointment, I am reserving a designated amount of time specifically for you. I understand that scheduling conflicts may arise. However, I do request a minimum of 48-hours notice for all cancellations and reschedules.
A credit card is required when booking and, for your convenience, may be kept securely in your client profile for all future bookings.
All cancellations within 48 hours of scheduled appointment time and all no-shows will be subject to a charge of 100% of the total cost of the service. If you arrive late for your appointment, I will make every effort to accommodate you to the best of my ability given the time remaining. You will still be responsible for payment of the full cost of service(s) booked.Appointments may be canceled online, by emailing amanda@topknotbalayage.com or by calling/texting. If you need to cancel your appointment outside of business hours, please do so online, by email or text.
Please keep in mind that appointment times are long and I ask that all clients be respectful of the time they reserve by confirming or canceling in an appropriate time frame. This includes filling out any necessary forms prior to your appointment.
I will make appropriate attempts to reach you. However, I reserve the right to cancel any unconfirmed appointments or any appointments that I have not received any necessary forms or information. Please use your most up to date and correct contact information as I may need to reach out. I appreciate your understanding!
Refund Policy: If you are dissatisfied with the result of your service, please let me know at the time of service or within 7 days of the original service date. I will be more than happy to make reasonable adjustments. I do not offer refunds.
